Whale returning; from a concert at Orepuki, Denis Corkery, a well-known farmer, aged sixty, got a leg caught on tho step of a trap: The horse bolted, and Corkery was dragged round a paddock. When found by his sons Corkery was dead, his neck being broken. He leaves a widow and grown-up family.
