Rain set in early this morning, an<f fell heavily till noon, putting an end to all. hope of continuing the test match, Australia v. New Zealand to-day. Play will be resumed at 11.30 a.m. to-morrow, ending at 5 p.m. T. Warne, a member of the Australian, team, who has charge- of the Carlton ground, sajrf Dunedm provided the only good wicket of the tour. There was no need to import soil to make wickets—the Xeiv Zealand ioil was good enough; but cara should be taken with the foundation. He thinks New Zealand cricket likely to make no marked improvement until good wickets are provided.
