I The auxiliary scow Magic arrived at Timaru on Priday evening from Dunedin to load, produce for Greymouth, The harbourmaster at Greymouth, in, his monthly report, stated—“l would recommend a Morse signal lamp be procured for the'signal station, as most of the Steamers trading : here ore provided with those signal lamps.”' The board has now instructed the harbourmaster to get a Morse lamp. The Union Company's steamer Navua. to sail from Auckland on- April 13th, connecting with the Makura tor Vancouver, is mow fully hooked. Passengers desirous of booking to Fiji in April will have to proceed via Tonga and Samoa, or via Sydney. The Wairuna, which arrived at Westport on Tuesday after a smalt passage of four days from Sydney, is due at. Lyttelton to-day or to-moarow with a load of coal. ,

Mr G. H-. Scales expects his chartered steamer Clan Boss to arrive here on Wednesday from Timaru, and will dispatch her about Saturday next for London.

The Blackball Coal Company’s collier Petone, which left Wellington at midnight on Saturday for Greymouth, is to load for Lyttelton. .The Ngahere is to leave Wellington at 10 a.m. to-day for Greymouth.

Mr C. W. Clark, son of Mr G. W. Clark, of Christchurch, has been successful in obtaining his second marine engineer’s certificate. Mr Clark is at present an engineer on the British India Steam Navigation Company’s Goloonda, trading between London and Calcutta, and was formerly employed at the Addington Eailway Workshops.

Tile schooner Amelia Sims, which 'is on her way from Lyttelton to Kohukohu to load timber for Wellington, will subsequently load at Havelock for Lyttelton.

The Arapawa was due at Lyttelton yesterday with a load of coal from Puponga. She is to arrive at Wellington on Wednesday from Lyttelton. The Maoriland Company’s steamer Holmdale left Greymouth on Friday night for Gisborne. The barque Laura, Captain Symons, fifteen days from Port Stephens, N.S.W.,

loaded with hardwood for the Westport Harbour Board, was towed into Westport on Tuesday morning. The barque met with head winds throughout the voyage. The Christchurch "Proas" reports that the Shaw, Savili and Albion steamer Aotea may not revisit New Zealand again, as she is under offer for ©ale. The Aotea is to leave Wellington on the 30th instant for London. Mr Skye, formerly of the- collier Ngahere, is on his way to Greymouth to join the Ennerdale as third officer. The vessel has been delayed by rain in loading for Oamar uand Dunedin. The Government steamer Hinemoa is at present fixed to leave Wellington at 1 p.m. to-morrow on her round trip to th© South Island lighthouses. The Shaw, Savili and Albion steamer Tainui is due at Wellington next Friday from Lyttelton to complete Her Homeward- loading.
