MASSACRE IN THE SOUDAN

The Sultan of Masealot, by means of an ambush, inflicted heavy loss on a French detachment at Abeshr, the capital of ■{bo Mahommedan State of Wadai, in Central Soudan, east of Lake Chad. It is reported that of the whole detachment only eight natives escaped.
One hundred and ten native soldiers and Europeans, a captain, two lieutenants, and two sergeants were massacred.
