The committee of the Pioneer Club held a reception yesterday afternoon. Mr and Aliss Vicory (Hampshire) are staying at the Grand before going to Tokaanu for fishing. Miss Olive Godwin was the recipient of u beautiful floral tribute last evening in the shape of a basket of scarlet flowers—artistically arranged. The committee of the Victoria League yesterday decided that the annual meeting shall be held the beginning of March instead of the 23rd inst., as previously announced. A marriage of interest in local amateur dramatic circles is to take place on the 30th of Alarch, when Miss Olive Moore, of JoiinsonvUle, is to be married to Mr Dunbar Sloane, of this city. When she commenced her concert tour last year, Miss Amy Castles said it had been for a long time the desire of her heart to appear in opera. The lyric soprano is likely to have her wish during the Sydney season of Italian opera in English under Air J. C. Williamson's management.
