A CONTRADICTION
(To the Editor “17.2. Times.”) Sir, —In tho "Sporting Notes” of the "Now Zealand Times" of Friday last your contributor states that Merrivonia is being hustled along in view of her Wanganui Cup engagement. The paragraph is cither pure invention or written purposely for the benefit of the bookmakers. The horse has done no work since the Trentham meeting, and it is improbable that she will go to Wanganui. If the remainder of the “ Notes ” are as reliable as the one in question they are very misleading, to say tho least of it. My only reason for writing ia to protect tho public who indulge in ante-post betting.-—I am, etc., J. AMES, Owner. Wellington, February sth. •
