THOUSANDS OB’ PARISIANS OUT OF WORK. THE RELIEF FUND. d y Telegraph— Press Association—Copyrishl PARIS, February 6. Owing to the floods there are 48,000 persons unemployed in Paris. The authorities are feeding and clothing and lodging thousands of persona daily. The good conduct of the Post Office employees throughout the inundations has led to the reinstatement of the postmen who were dismissed owing to the strikes in May last year. Contributions from Franco and abroad in aid of the flood victims now amonnt to £300,000. The Mikado of Japan sent £BOO to the relief fund, and the Canadian House of Commons unanimously voted a contribution of £IO,OOO. EPIDEMIC FEARED. (Received February 7, 11.5 p.m.) PARIS, February 7. It is feared that an epidemic may break out upon the complete subsidence of the flood waters in the city.
