NURSING THE SICK POOR
The first meeting of the St. John District Nursing Guild committee for the current year was held yesterday, ‘ when the following ladies were present:—Mrs S. A. Rhodes (president), Mrs W. B. Tripe, Mrs J. P. Luke, Mrs A. A. Corrigan, Mrs H. W. Preston, Miss M. Higgle, and Mrs W. B. Fisher (hon secretary). Mrs W. H. S. Moorhoupe apologised for unavoidable absence. Work on the district has not been so arduous during the summer term, the operations showing a reduction in the number of patients registered,_ as well as in the number of visits paid by the nurses. One death occurred a few weeks ago and two patients were sent to the hospital. The committee decided to give Nurse Macandraw three weeks’ holiday. The following subscriptions were acknowledged with thanks;—Mr and Mrs J. P. Firth £2 2s, St. Peter’s Relief Guild £5, Mrs F. H. Bakewell £l, Ngn Tawa school 16s Gd, N.Z. Consolidated Dental Co. £1 Is, Ministering Children’s League (per Miss Preston) £l2. Thanks were accorded to a number of ladies and gentlemen for gifts of clothing and other comforts, and further subscriptions will bo thankfully received.
