MR C. BARY

A POPULAE SCHOOLMASTEE. Mr C. Bary has been headmaster of the Eoseneath School for seven and a half years, and has been promoted to be, headmaster of Mount Cook school. About one hundred residents of Eoseneath assembled in the echoolhouse test evening to give Mr Bary a fitting " sendoff." Mr Hurley, speaking on behalf of the residents, made complimentary references to Mr Bary's services and his excellent qualifications. Inspectors' reports- had been highly satisfactory and the failures of pupils few. Six scholarships had been gained during Mr Bary's tenure of the position. The attendance had risen from 88 chijdren to 158. Mr J. Smith, chairman of the committee, emphasised the value of- Mr Bary's work in the school and assistance to the school committee. He had also worked assiduously to obtain the tennis courts which were a feature of the school grounds. The residents presented Sir Bary with some handsome silver plate and a case of pipes.
