ARRANGEMENTS EOR INSPECTION OE CADETS In connection with the mobilisation of tb,? junior cadets during Lord Kitchener's visit'next month, the 'officer commanding. Major T. W. McDonald, has issued B-ome necessary i">retliaiinary instructions-. The cadets who will come together at Hutt Park, as centre for the WuUington district, -will be 'inspected on Friday, February l!sth. The ' outlying unite are. to reach the camp on the i Wednesday previous, where they' will Uejoined' by the city and suburban units on the Thursday.
Free railway pass?* will be issued to all units travelling- on the railways to or from the camps, and officers commanding are instructed to iii-akc aIL iiecessurv arrangements with tlie local railway "authorities. Units that are not in possession of the: authorised uuiiomis, " etc., may now apply to headquarters lor such articles ;w tney may require on loun for the special occasion. . As section 3! of the new Defence Act provides that aill boys over twelve years of age shall continue as cadets, even li thev leave school, until they attain tiio age* of fourteen years, officers tammauding units are urged to endeavour to get as many cadets who have ceased to attend school as possible to turn out for the: encampment. Camps or quarters w:'ll be provided for the cadets from'the outlying districts of each centre. Free rations w-ill also be, provid-ad lor such cadets during the period the} are in camp or quarters. On the day of, and the day prior to, the 'inspection, lunch will be provided at the camp 'on- quarters for- the city and suburban cadets.' ''. CIVIC RECEPTION. Lord Kitchener mil be accorded a civic reception in the Town Hall on the evening of, his arrival, in .Wellington. His Kxceller.cy the Governor, the Prime Minister, and Admiral Sir Ifichard Pooro arc to bo invited to attend the function. Lord Kitchener has intimated his acquiescence to the reception, which will be thrown open to the wholeof the citizens.
