AMERICA'S NEW TARIFF
CAUSE OF THE TROUBLE WITH GERMANY. <3y Telegraph—Press Association—Copyright. LONDON, January 26. The Washington correspondent of the "Morning Post" says ' that the real difficulty between America and -Germany is not the admission of American meat, but Washington's demand to be accorded mosWayoured nation treatment, otherwise the maximum Tates authorised by the new tariff would be enforced. Germany replied that she was willing to grant the favoured nation tariff, provided America by treaty defines the duties payable on German importations. The- Washington Government disapproves.entering into a treaty, because its ratification would reopen the tariff question.
