»— OFFICER AND STEWARDESSES PROMOTED. TEESS ASSOCIATION. DUNEDIN, January 14. Tho Union Company lias promoted Mr Appleyard, second officer of tho Waikaro, to tlio position of first officer, in recognition of his sen-ice in the launch immediately after the Dusky Sound mishap; and the members of the crew with him are to bo given monetary grants. The stewardess, Miss Gash, ana Miss, Fitzpatrick, her assistant, are to be promoted. Captain Nowton is a passenger for 1 .Auckland by the Mdnowai to-day.
