Lord Lamington, formerly Governor of Queensland, on behalf of a hundred subscribers, including Agents-General and British commercial men, presented Sir Horace Tozer, who lately retired from the position of Agent-Gene-ral for Queensland, with a silver salver and £ll7O. His Lordship eulogised the courage, fidelity, and ripe judgment shown by Sir Horace in carrying out the duties of his office. Lord Strathcona, High Commissioner for Canada, who also spoke, acknowledged Sir Horace Tozer's great success on the Pacific Cable Board. _ Sir Horace Tozer, in' replying, regretted that his retirement was necessary owing to ill-health. He was, however, hopeful of being able to servo the Empire- in the future.
