BOWLING

CHAMPIONSHIP TOURNEY. PAIRS FINISH QUALIFYING ROUNDS. YESTERDAY'S PLAY. A long day was given, up yesterday at tho Northern Bowling Association's championship tourney to the four qualifying rounds in the pairs matched. There were 126 pairs taking part, and every available i;reen in the city and suburbs was in. use. In the first throe rounds, games of twenty-one heads were phyed, but this made such a long job of it that the last round was nearly two hours lato in starting on every green. The result was that rather unsatisfactory finishes ivero recorded. On some greens the skips agreed to play games of fourteen or sixteon ioads, but on others the players kept {oing until forced by approaching larkncss to ahandon the games at rarious stages. In a number of in.tancea where tho scoring was close ■lamps and lanterns were requisitioned ;o show the players whore tho kitty Jay, wliile in one game at least ■•Hatches held by the skips served the 3amo purpose. The records generally were very lato :n reaching the secretary. They showed that in twelve sections there were straight-out wins, while in tho remaining nine there wore ties. Of tho latter threo were double ties. The full xeeord of each. competing skip is shown in the tables : SECTION A. Skips. Wins. Losses. .
