HUTT RIVEB BOABD. The monthly meeting of tho'Hutt River Hoard, was held last night, Messrs B. Sto\cns (chairman), I'. J. Pmneyand, H. Sladden being present. Mr Robert Stevens was mnanirnously re-elected to the position of chairman. The scheme . for Btraightcning, bj means of boom and submerged groynes, the lower reaches of the Hutt river, has made considerable progress this soason. Reporting to tho board last night the engineer said that the present summer's instalment of boom groynes had been completed. Thirteen in n.ll had. now been built, this year's addition being five new groynes and extensions to three others. Ho expected to see still further improvement ini the deep water channel of the river oa a result after the.winter floods. Details as to the extent of the worl» were given by the overseer (Mr 13. Fisher). The groyne oast of the upper diversion cut, 11C feet in length, the groyne 03:tension north of White's line east (58 foet), that off t*e hoad of GearIsland (85 feet) and that east of th« lower diversion cut (115 feet) comprised those that had been completed ae mentioned by the engineer.
