THE MEAT SLUMP
ONE HOPEFUL SIGN,
Tho most cheering information we have had from tho Home market is that the imports of live sheep into Britain have fallen off at a tremendous rate since tho drop in prices. The total imports for the ten months ending October only amounted to 7130, whereas last year they totalled 83,990. In October only 158 were landed, against 9561 for tho corresponding month of 1903. This almost complete cessation of importation of a class of stock which compotes principally with our meat must have a good effect on values; though it is only to bo expected that with any appreciable advance in prices the' trade •will revive.
