The hurdle race was a fiasco, there only being three starters. After indulging Tokoroa with the lead for a mile O’Neill brought Windage along, and the chestnut won pulling up. Mr Green recently refused a tempting offer for the Euroclydon gelding, and ho showed good judgment in his decision. The investments on the . totallsator for this race probably constitute a record for smallhess—only TG. ’ . The Railway Handicap, although there were oi,My five starSers, was productive of a splendid finish, only ■heads' separating the first four contestants. Waicola misbehaved at . the barrier and lost several lengths. This

Mahaki mare is getting worse than ever at the barrier. A very ‘ordinary lot of five faced Mr Piper in the Flying Hack Handicap. The winner. Liquid Air, was turned out in good racing condition by T. Wilson. Afterthought, who is trained by W. Garrett at Opalci, ran prominently and should soon be getting on the winning list. Tho Welter Hack Handicap produced a field of six. Waihola and Bose Herald cannoned into one another at the start, and the latter lost . several lengths. Waihola, . tho Ashburst Guineas winner, went to the front and led to straight entrance, when tho field closed up and the Fordell trained Debonnaire won comfortably. Waihola must bo kept in view for future engagements, as the black filly is very fit. ' The race for the Cup was shorn of a little interest through Adria being left at the post and takingno part in the contest. Parable and Milan were quickest out, and carried on the running to straight entrance, when Milan went to the front and scored decisively. There was a big gap between Mataari 1 and Parable. A good field lined np for the Telegraph Stakes. The colours of Pukcwai’s: rider became prominent at the start, but on entering the , straight Cairns lost hia position and Pritchard brought Splash along,. tho San Fran filly winning easily from Blend, _ on whom R. Lambess, the Poxton lightweight, rode a capable race. Strathmoira (who was _ presented by the leader of the Opposition, Mr Massey, to /H. McManaway, tho Huntervillc sport) won the Trial Hack Plato very nicely. Tho Soult gelding was always in a good position. Moreo was ii the lead for six furlongs, but only on sufferance. Wheturangi ran well, and should soon be accounting for a race. There were only three runners in tho Konini Welter. Midian was first to break the line, and carried on the running to well in the straight, when Aberration passed the Fordell trained mare, and in a slashing finish won ,by a head from the fast finishing Marathon, who was badly, placed in tho early stages.
