By: balance forward . ... . ... 32 710 .. receipts 11l 14 0 To expenditure , ... 160 15 7 Deficit 25 13 9 -w . 25 13 9 Tho secretary was empowered to enter into an arrangement with the caretaker whereunder he would devote only halftime to the duties of tho position, his allowance to bo reduced in proportion, also to arrange for a temporary substitute if necessary. Replies were read, from the Petone and Lower Hutt Borough Councils and Hutt Council agreeing to tho suggested adjustment of arrangements for controL In answer to Mr Wakeham, the 6©o* rotary said that the rough estimate, furnished the councils..named £l3O as tho' approximate annual receipts and £l7O (inclusive of £25 expenses of supervision) as -fife approximate expenditure. The deficit would bo borne by the three councils in proportion either to valuation or population as might be decided. Extraordinary expenditure would have to he met by a special vote. Dr. Harding suggested that the Lower Hutt borough engineer furnish-his council with an estimate of his requirements periodically, and that levies be based cn that. Tile secretary thought this would probably be the wiser course. H© suggested that each council be asked to appoint delegates to form a draft Constitution. The suggestion was agreed to.
