“REVOLUTION” IN CANADA
PROTEST AGAINST SPEECHES BY PREMIER. By Telegraph—Press Association—Copyright. OTTAWA, January 11. The Hon. George Foster, ex-Mdnister of Finance, in a speech delivered at tho Empire Club, iu Toronto, protested against tho impression conveyed by some of Sir Wilfrid Laurier’s recent speeches, that political and fiscal freedom and tho power of negotiating treaties should be wrested from Britain. Mr Poster maintained that already tli ere was much freedom, and Canada could not have absolute autonomy in international relations without declaring her independence. If such talk were serious, it was revolutionary. ANOTHER VIEW. Speaking at Toronto last week, Sir Wilfrid Laurier said that he could not believe that Great Britain was in danger, but if Great Britain were strongly pressed there would be a wave ot sentiment all over Canada to go to the succour of tho Old Land.
