The Mayor was appointed to represent the borough at the .annual conference to decide the weekly half-holi-day aiid at a conference for the election of a member for the Harbour Board. The Tramway Committee recommended, and it was agreed, that the Bo it and Telegraph Department be charged £3O per annum for three years for the conveyance of letter carriers and .telegraph messengers- on the Karori tramway system ; that'‘the town elefk writ© to the Christchurch Tramway Board and the electrical engineer ■of the Dunedin Tramways asking- for information regarding storage batteries.. The Public Works. The borough engineer (Mr G. W. Bingham) reported that the men had ibeen employed since tho last council /meeting in excavating the site for the metal binns, £4O having been , expended to date.
