A MUCH TRAVELLED BELL, The ship's bell on the forecastle-head of the Italian barque Doride, now discharging Marseilles tiles at Wellington, has had a. remarkable career. The bell originally belonged to the clipper ship Titania, built fifty-four years ago by R. Steele and Co., of Greenock. The old Titania traded to China for /some years as a tea-clipper for her owner, Mr R. H. Shaw, of London. She was subsequently sold to. the Hudson Bay Company, and ran for some years between London and Vancouver. About thirteen years ago the Titania was purchased by Fill, Pollio, Gastllamare, Italy, owners of the. barque Doride. After trading to various parts of the world the- Titania is now laid up indefinitely at Marseilles, where her bell was taken from her by the captain of the Doride.
