100,000 MINERS IDLE

A hundred thousand Northumberland and Durham miners are idle owing to the dispute with the colliery owners over tho working of tho Eight Hour Act. Threo thousand have been persuaded to resume work. GENERAL STRIKE FAVOURED. (Received January 11, 11 p.m.) LONDON, January .11. 1 A mass meeting of Northumberland miners at Soghill unanimously favoured a general stoppage of work. WAGES REDUCED IN DURHAM. (Received January 11, 10.15 p.m.) LONDON, January 11. : Lord MaoDonnel, acting as arbitrator in the dispute between the Durl ham colliery proprietors and the miners, reduced wages by 6i per cent., Tho owners had claimed a reduction of 10 per cent.
