High pressure has prevailed, but the barometer has fallen slowly during the past forty-eight hours. Lip:ht easterly winds and cloudy and showery weatheir havo prevailed in tho North. Elsewhere the. winds have been light and variable, with changeable weather and showers in many parts, particularly Taranaki. Present indications are for warm and hazy weather generally. Rain is probable on tho West Coast and in the Southern districts of the South Island' and about East Cape. Freshening northerly winds aro probable and a falling barometer overywherc. D. C. BATES.
