SATURDAY'S COMPETITIONS. THREE POSSIBLES SCORED. The weather conditions were fairly good at Trentham on Saturday afternoon. and some good ‘ scores resulted. A record in possibles was established, no fewer than three being registered —all at 500 yards. These were put on by Riflemen R. Randell and W. G. Tarr. two veterans of the Karori Rifle Club, and Sergeant Tinney, of the Guards. \ curious feature about these scores was that non© of them were notched with, an aperture sight. The best-two rangpe score oi tne day was made by Xarr, who put on 68 out of a possible *0 at 2U6 and SIX) yards. Lieutenants (iibbs and Chappie had charge of the ranges, while Stafi-Ser-geanr-Jlaj or Rose was in command of the target trenches. The parade state was as follows Engineers, 23; Heretaunga Mounted Rifles,. 21; Dominion Scours, 15; Kelburne Rifles, 12; Civil Service Rifles, 14; Post and Telegraph Rifles, 22; College Rifles, 9; Zealandia Rifles, 22; Highland Rifles, 21; Hutt Valley Rifles, 22; Permanent Artillery, 8; Karori Rifle Club, 27; City Rifles, 2V; Guards, 15. Total, 258. Scores HIGHLAND RIFLES. The Wellington Highland Rifles competed. for the Ballantyue shield, McDiarmid junior cup; and fired the final match for the second monthly trophy competition, prizes being given by Messrs Thompson and Brown and I. L. Turner. Result:—A Class—Lieutenant Henderson, 184; Private Mclver, 181; ColourSergeant McDonald (10 handicap), 181. Junior —Private Sellars, 166; Corporal St. Clair, 165; Private Martin, 165.
