THE CRACKER NUISANCE
PBESS ASSOCIATION. CHRISTCHTJBCH, January 9. A few days before Christmas the police gave warning of their intention to reduce the crackeir nuisance, but nevertheless there Were-many offenders against the by-law prohibiting the discharge of fireworks in the public streets. This imorning three email boys appeared before Mr Bishop, S.M., at a sitting of the Juvenile. Court, charged with having let off crackers. They admitted the offence. His Worship said he supposed they were (not the only offendeu-s, judging from the •abominable nuisance that was created. He was absolutely certain from what he .bad seen himself- that there were many tothers. Sub-Inspector- McGrath. remarked that there were other oases to be heard in the Magistrate's Court. Mr Bishop said the boys were not so culpable as those who supplied them with crackers. The boys on griving an assurance that they would not repeat the offence next Christmas were convicted ond discharged.
