It is reported that fat sheep will drop in price about the middle of January. CARTERTON. Tlio work of forming Seddon. street, Carterton, has been put iu band. The oat crops throughout the district’ are exceptionally good this season. A party of Qhmiese are leasing some eight or nine acres of river flats down tho Lower Valley, for which they are paying £6 per acre, for market gardening. They ape sending most of their produce to Wellington. No tenders were received last evening for the sale of £3OO under the auispic.es of the Wairarapa Terminating Building Society, and it accordingly went to the ballot, and fell to Air Arthur J.
