MOTOR ACCIDENT

OAR TOPPLES OVER WAIMAEAMA ZIG-ZAG. A motor accident occurred to a party on the Walmarama road at about 4.40 .p.m. on Wednesday (says the Napier “Telegraph"!. Tho car belonged to Mr H. Glazebrook, of West Clive, and contained tho Misses Ida and Lilian Glazebrook, aged about eighteen and twenty years respectively, Messrs Paws© (nephew of Mr Glazebrook), who was driving, Howard Glazebrook and Sclanders, a friend from Wanganui. They were driving down the zig-zag on the Waimarama side of tho Tuki Tuki, on their way home, and when at a particularly, sharp bend something went wrong with the steering gear. The emergency brake refused to act, with the result that the car went over the bank somersaulting three times in its descent. The occupants were, of course, flung out in all directions, and one of the young ladies was right under the body of the car when it crashed down, but 'fortunately it leaped off her, leaving her The party ©scaped with a shaking and bruising, except Miss Lilian Glazebrook, who was found to be suffering from shock, and Mr Pawse, who received an injury to on© of his legs, although no bones were broken. A man on horseback passing, rode to Mr John Chambers's place. Mokapeka, and wired to Hastings for Dr Tosswill, and Mr Chambers got his own car ready to go to their assistance. He took some o: the party on to Hastings, and on the way met Dr. Tosswill. who attended to tho girl's injury, and Mr Chambers took them home to West Clive. Dr Tosswill then went on and brought the rest of the party on to Hastings. The car was badly smashed.
