Palmer has been installed as N.G. of Lodge Maugatainoka, 1.0.0. F., and Bro. W. Tayloi', as secretary. Mr Malcolm, who has been headmaster of the Scarborough school for about eight years, has been appointed headmaster of the Mitchelltown (Wellington) school. A man named Charles Gurotte was today sentenced to two months' imprisonment for resisting the police. He was u.lso fined X's for behaving in a manner likely to cause a breach of the peace. The death occured to-day' of Mr Percy Lee, of the firm of Lee and Boxhall, at the age of thirty years. The deceased had been ill for some time in. the hospital, and had undergone several operations. There is now a daily mail service to Pongaroa, and it is highly appreciated by the settlers.
