DEFINING THEIR ATTITUDE

The trouble in the ranks of the Nolioenao party was subject of consideration at a meeting of the league executive and at a subsequent meeting of members of the league at Petone on Tuesday night. . The following resolution was the outcome :—“That this meeting deeply deplores the ■ unconstitutional method and rash letters- which have caused the league to pass under such a dark cloud, and recognises that the executive has taken the right course in placing u.complete report, most of which is eo belated, before it: further, that the report be adopted, on the understanding that the present members whose names stand on the secretary's books as members of the executive continue their efforts to put things on a proper basis by the time of the annual meeting, as to what alterations in our present constitution are in its opinion advisable.” ' ' . _ The term "unconstitutional • method Waa reference to the action of individual officers of, the league, arranging for representation at the recent convention without convening a meeting. “Basu letters" refers to letters addressed by the late president of the league to the editor of the “Petone Chronicle." The reference in the second part of the resolution is intend*! to imply disagreement with the stand taken up by Mr J. W. Mcßwau in challenging the right pf certain members (who took part in the meeting of the executive at which resolutions were passed reflecting on the actions of the late president) to scats on that body. The meeting of the league, which was presided over by the Ber. E. F- Eothwell, and which was attended by over twenty members, was, it is understood, in practical agreement , on the main points at issue.
