Mr McKenzie will journey north, via Kcotton. and Westport, to Nelson at the conclusion of his Westland tour.

Mr William Callender, general manager of tho Bank of New Zealand, leaves for London by the Ruahine on February 10th. During his absence from tlio Dominion the duties of general manager will be discharged by Mr A. L. Mills, the senior inspector of the bank.

Mr A. A. Trinder, of the London shipping firm of Trinder, Anderson and Co. who arrived from Australia on Tuesday, will remain in Wellington until Monday next, and then go on bo Christchurch. He will leave tho Dominion again tor Australia at the end of next week. It is throe years since Mr Trinder last visited New Zealand.

Mr Walter J- Jones, who has returned from a visit to the East, in the course of which he toured Japan and China, is at present in Invercargill, and will bake up his duties as editor of the "Southland News” in the course o± a few days. Mr Jones has been for many' years connected with the "Oamaru Mail."

Mr S. Sampson, member for Wimmera in the Federal House of Representatives, and Mr W. Hutchinson, member for Boning in the Legislative Assembly of Victoria, are on a holiday trip through New Zealand. Last week they visited Lake Wakatlpu. They proceed from Christchurch overland to Greymouth, on route for the North Island.

Dr K. de Boissiere, who has for a number of years been stationed at Kadavu, has been appointed to take charge of the Leper Station of Mokogai (says the “Fiji Times"). Tho doctor, during his stay at Eabukilevo, has worked excellently in his profession, and. lias at the same time quite captured tho natives respect and gratitude. Just previous to his departure from Kadavu the natives, headed by the Roko, Ratu Efarmi, presented their departing friend with tabuas and many gifts of native importance.

Mr F. Glllarwkcrs, tho lato manager of the Moumahaki Experimental Farm, was on Thursday evening last presented by the remnant, of his old staff with a sot of gold sleeve-links and studs on the occasion of his severing connection with the farm. One of the staff, to. making the presentation, said they regretted Mr GiTLandors leaving very much indeed, and concluded by expressing the heartiest wishes for his-future - -welfare. Mr Gillandors (Very feelingly responded, and hoped the farm staff, whom he was extremely sorry to nart with, would extend the same, loyalty to the new manager (Mr McConnell) as th§y had always done to himself. Three hearty cheers for Mr Gil landers brought the function bo a close.

Mr Henry Birch, M.1.G.E., engineer to the Wellington Gas Company, Ltd., has decided to retire from that position at tho end of Mardh next. Mr Birch nas been in failing health during the past few months, and. as he has reached an ago at which ho may reasonably look for a little leisure, ho has, much to the regret of the hoard of directors, placed his resignation in the board’s hands/In order that tho company may not lose tho benefit of his long and great experience the directors have retained has services in the position of consulting engineer. Mr Birch, who has been for nearly thirty-five years connected with the 4XOB Company, will be succeeded in the position of engineer and works manager by Mr A, Dougall, who was lately assistant gas engineer at Hall, England, and who will arrive in. tho Dominion by tho Ruapehu in February next
