“NEW ZEALAND TIMES” Great Voting Contest And DISTRIBUTION OF PRIZES valued at £550 Opened Wednesday, Dec. 1,1909; Will Close Saturday, March 19,1910 The following are the Terms and Conditions of the Contest: Any person ol good character residing within the Dominion of New Zealand can become a candidate by sending to “The Times” Office Contest Department, the official “ Nominating Blank ” properly signed and authenticated, as printed below. Nomination Forms will be supplied from the “ Times ” Office or can he cut from the Paper. Each candidate is entitled to , 1000 Complimentary votes on Nomination. Candidates may nominate themselves, but should a candidate be nominated by more than one person, such candidate is not entitled to more than 1000 CoMPUKENTaKY Votes. Upon receipt of your nomination the Contest Department will at once supply you with the necessary blanks, literature, &c. To secure votes, a candidate must obtain subscribers for the “N.Z. Times ” for any of the undermentioned periods, and at the rates stated. The number of votes which a subscription secures are also shown. One Day, (free coupon) - - 5 Votes One Month, 2/2 (if posted, 3/3) 50 „ Three Months, 6/6 (if posted, 9/9) 200 ~ Six Months, 13/- (if posted, 19/6) 500 „ Twelve Months, £l/6/- - 1,500 „ Twelve Months (posted)£l/19/- 2,000 „ Five Years, £5 - • - 10,000 „ The cash must be obtained with the order for the paper, and the candidate will issue the receipt to the subscriber on the form provided by the Contest Department. , The receipt books supplied to candidates are in triplicate, one portion to hand to the subscriber, the stubb to be retained by the candidate, and the other portion to be handed in or sent to the “N.Z. Times” Office (with the subscription received), in return for which a Voting Coupon will be issued entitling the candidate to the number of votes which the subscription secures. These coupons will be held by the candidates and can be oast by them any time up to the close of the competition. Candidates are thus made the custodians of their own votes. A free coupon, good for five votes, will be printed in the “Times” from day to day until fourteen days before the close of the contest, and can bo cast in favour of candidates by their friends or by candidates themselves. These free votes must, however, be sent in to the office within fourteen days from the date the coupon appears in the paper. They tan be sent either direct to the “ Times ” office by the voters, or be handed by them to the candidates to cast for themselves, but in either case they must reach the “Times” office within the fourteen days. , All remittances must be made payable to the New Zealand Times Co., Ltd. The candidate receiving the largest number of votes will be entitled to Prize No. 1, the one receiving the second highest number of votes to Prize No. 2, and so on till the list is disposed of. No employee or agent of the “ New Zealand Times,” nor anyone immediately related to an employee of the paper can be a candidate. Nominations are now in order, and will close on 31st. January, 1910 Fill out the “ Nomination Blank,” and then get busy. The competition is now open, and closes on Saturday, March 19th, 1910. The Ballot Box for the reception of votes is placed daily in the business office of the “ New Zealand Times.” All ballots must be placed in a sealed envelope with the candidate’s name and address written on the outside before being deposited. Out-of-town candidates can mail their votes to the “ The Times ” Contest Department, when they will be placed to their credit. The result of the voting will be announced from time to time, showing the standing of the contestants.
