According to. the officer- in charge of tlio 'local bureau of, the Department o£ Labour, the New- Year has started well os far as the labour market is concerned. So far there have been twice os many jobs offering as there have been inquiries for i employment. Another satisfactory feature- is that there have not been the customary applications for work by visitors from tlio country who have spent all their money. In the post these applications have been made by those who were stone broke, in order tc get back to their homes. ASHB URTON, January 4.
As the result of an appeal made by the Rev. Dr. Gibb at the Summer Conference last night, it is probable tliat two you UK men members will go to uho Otago University, with a view to entering the regular ministry of the Presbyterian Church, while two—and probably three—have decided to devote themselves to the Home Mission work of the Church.
