THE RECENT STRIKE
MINISTER MEETS MINERS’ EXECUTIVE.
PRESS ASSOCIATION. GREYMOUTH, January 4, The Hon. R. McKenzie, Minister of Mines, held a conference with the miners* executive this morning in regard to the State min© strike. He offered to agree to any award in existence, at Granity, Seddonville,, and Denniston. The executive agreed to accept Seddonville, and a meeting of miners was held at six o'clock to consider conditions.
A very lively meeting took place, lasting till close on eleven o'clock. . The meeting insisted on certain alterations to the Seddonville agreement, and the Minister will consider, the matter in the morning. It is more than likely that an amicable settlement will be arrived at, as the miners have consented to start work to-morrow morning.
