SOUTHERN CHEESE ACTIVITY
BIG INCHKASK IX FACTORIES. Southland has always boon a great cheese-making territory, but its output oi this product during the present season will ho a big record. No less than eighteen now factories have commenced operations this year. Theeffect of .this will be seen in forthcoming shipments. It is; stated that for tho fortnightly boat after next space for no less than 28,0C0 eases has been booked, and the largest quantity which has hitherto been shipped in one bottom was about 20,000. cases. With this great increase in Southern ohcc&o coming forward, and tho goneral increases elsowhoro, taken in conjunction with tho reduced purchasing power at Homo, it certainly does not encourage tho belief that decont prices will rulo for cheese this season.
