Tho Coal Lumpers' Union has decided to strike in sympathy with the miners at Newcastle. GOYERNMENT INTENTIONS SUBJECTED TO CRITICISM IN THE HOUSE. SYDNEY, December 8. The Legislative Assembly is sitting continuously on the Estimates, and ithe time is largely taken, up with attacks ,on tho Government over the strike. Several disorderly scenes have occurred. One Labour member accused • the Government of a deliberate attempt to create insurrection by sanding a large force of police to Newcastle. The Chief Secretary, Mr W. H. Wood, replied that the whole action of tho Government had been one of tolerance, foi-bearanoe, and continual effort to influence both parties to bring 'about a settlement. For this purpose it was giving the' fullest and freest opportunity to get coal wanted for the public. The Government was not going to allow industrial paralysis to overtake the State, and it. would, if. necessary, get coal from abroad, (though preferring to ? give , every chance to get it locally.
