FRUIT AND PRODUCE. WELLINGTON QUOTATIONS. During the past few days new season's local ly-srrowu apricote and peaches have made their appearance in tho local markets, and in spite of the carliness of their advent excellent prices were realised. Some vary nice samples of cherries are- coming to hand from the Nelson province and realising high rates. As a. matter of fact, the fruit markets are in a very healthy condition; supplies are not yet sufficiently excessive to allow of anything like unsatisfactory values prevailing. Gooseberries havo now boon available for some time, and these aro the only exception to scarcity of supply. A small shipment of Tongan bananas arrived yesterday, and will bo disposed of at the auctions to-day. Supplies or New South Wales citrous and summer fruits aro duo this morning from Sydney. Tho demand for oranges is bound to bo Btronß, as very fow are arriving from Australia owing to it now being the close or tho season. Shipments of Californian are duo hero on tho 18th instant, and those will tend to relieve tho tension, and also bo in ample time for the holiday trade. A furthor shipment of bananas will bo here cm Thursday from Suva, and as the total is only moderate, strong competition will doubtless result.

Apples, choice imported dtossort 143 to 15s case; lemons (local) 6a to 8s case; gooseberries 4s to 4s 9d half-caso; Ted currants 4s to 5a half-case; cherries, ohoice local dessert 14s 6d to 15s 6d, prime lis to 12s 6d; peaches, crates 12s 6d to 14s, halrcasos 7s to 9s; strawberries, choice Is 6d to 2s, good Is 3d -to Is sd, inferior 6d to 9d; apricots 3s to 10s half-caso. POTATOES AND ONIONS. Now that the season is so well advanced for old potatoes, and now have come on in much larger quantities lately, the demand, has slackened for the former, and they aro inclined To bo neglected. Now potatoes continue to fluctuate in price daily, dependent upon the quantity offering from time to time. Values are, however, now more on a level, which allows of the general consumption of the new potato, and with Southern supplies shortly available, a further decline should result. For some days past the market has been bare of onions, owing to no Melbourne steamer having arrived last Friday. With further shipments due to-day from Melbourne and Sydney, and also frpm Melbourne on/Friday, stocks will be well replenished. The Melbourne market continues to exfiib.it a strong tendency, and values on previous quotations are slightly higher. Old potatoes £6 10s to £7 103, inferior £4 10s to £5; new potatoes 8s to 9s cwt, inferior 56 6d to 7s; onions £8 to £9 ton. OTHER VEGETABLES. Supplies of vegetables have again continued scarce during the past week, and high prices have ruled as a consequence. Green peas have not so far dropped to a low level; in fact, it is almost unprecedented the length of time over which values hare kept up. Tomatoes were inclined towards the end of last week to arrive in much heavier quantities, and the market fell immediately. Cauliflowers, ohoice 8s to 10s sack, prime 6s 6d to 7s 6d; cabbages, choice 6s 6d to 8s sack, prime 5s 6d to 6s; asparagus, large bundles' 7s to 9s dozen, small 3s to ss; artichokes 4s to 5s half-sack; tomatoes, choice 6d to 7d lb, prims 4d to sd; parsnips 5s to 5s 6d sack, beetroot 3s to 5s sack; green peas, choice Is to Is 3d peck, prime 8d to lOd; rhubarb 3s to 5s dozen bundles;. lettuce 4s to 5s 6d case; pumpkins 10s to 12s sack; marrows 7s to 9s sack; carroto, choice 6s to 7s 6d sack, prime 4s 6d to 5s 6d. EGGS. A particularly good demand for eggs has been in evidence lately, and with a fallingoff in the supply, values have advanced to Is Id and Is 2d dozen.

The Customs revenue received at Wellington yesterday totalled £2287.
