The Government steamer Tutanekai left AAtollington at 4 o’clock yesterday morning for Conk Strait to repair tho No 2 Oteransi-Whlt© Bay cable, but, as the weather was unfavourable for the work, she was compelled to put back to port. Tho vessel loaded some more cable vesterday afternoon, and will go out as soon as the weather will permit. It has been decided to despatch the auxiliary scow Echo from AVaitara today for Greymouth, to load timber there for Picton. Tho Union Company’s collier AVaipori is timed to sail from Westport at 7 o’clock this morning, with a load of coal for Sydney. A successful trial run was made at Auckland on Saturday by tlm new- Patea steamer Kapuni. The vessel is expected to sail for Patea and AAtollmgton to-day. After taking in a supply of bunker c-oal, tho Bankiields resumed her voyage to Newcastle yesterday. The cost of blowing up the wreck of the Charles Edward, at the entrance of the Wanganui river, was stated at tho AVanganui Harbour Board meeting on Friday evening to have been .£249, which is paid by tho buyer of the wreck. The former owners, the Anchor Steamship Company, as well as the buyer of the wreck (says the “Herald”) have now been given a clearance from all liability in the matter. The hoard’s engineer reports finding 20 feet of water over where the forward end of tho wreck lay, and 25 feet over the after end. Tho Arapawa is to take the ketch Arainoho in tow from Wanganui to Gape Palliser, whence the Aramoho will sail for_ Gisborne. The Aramoho, which will be in charge of Captain Carpenter, is to be used as a lighter nt Gisborne. A crew signed on at Wanganui on Friday for the voyage. THE ARAHURA. The Union Company’s steamer Arahura arrived at Greymouth at 8 o’clock yesterday morning from AVellington, via ports. The vessel sailed on- the return trip last night, and is to leave AVestport at 8 a.m. to-day for Nelson. Tho Arahura is timed to leave Nelson, at 7.30 a.m. to-morrow and Picton at 1.30 p.m. for AVellington, where she is due about 5.30 o’clock to-morrow evening. THE CLAN SINCLAIR. According to Sydney shipping files the steamer Clan Sinclair, 5215 tons. Captain Oliver, which is expected at AVellington shortly to replenish hunkers, left Montevideo on October 81st for Brisbane and Sydney. DRAYTON GRANGE’S MOVEMENTS. Tho Maoriland Steamship Company’s steamer Ennerdale, which left Tekopuru at 8 a.m. on Sunday for Melbourne, cleared Kaipara heads at 5 p.m. on Sunday. Tho vessel is duo at Melbourne about next Monday morning. THE HINEMOA. The Marine Department received word yesterday that the Government steamer Hinomoa w-as at Hokianga and was to leave last night for Kaipara, from which port she will proceed to Manukau harbour to overhaul the buoys. Tho Hinemoa will next call at New Plymouth and will visit Farewell Spit lighthouse to land Assistant-lightkecper Kent from the East Capo lighthouse to succeed Assistant-keeper Page, who has _ transferred to Cape Brett. .Tho Hinemoa should reach AVellington about to-morrow week, and will then make a trip to the Brothers and Cape Campbell lighthouses prior to setting out on her Southern trip.
