NEW ZEALANDERS ABROAD. LATEST PERSONAL NOTES FROM HOME. TP.OM OUK SPECIAL COKHESPOXDEXT. LONDON, October 1. Mr G. H. L. Cunningham will bo a passenger for Now Zealand next week by the Athenio, after a visit to tho Old Country. Mr W. I. Glasgow, of Wellington, late of the Customs Department, and Miss' Glasgow, have concluded their visit to England, and left London today for Marseilles to join an Orient steamer outward-bound. Mr I". W. Christmas, tho well-known Now Zealand and Australian artist, has just been elected a member of the Royal Society of British Artists. Miss Ada Crossloy is singing in London this season at the Sunday Concert®. Dr A. Osborne Knight, of Auckland, who has been spending the last two ; years in this country, leaves next month on his return to New Zealand. Miss Dorothy Knight, who lias boon studying singing in London under Mine. Marches!, leaves for tho Continent nest week to sjiend some time in Paris and « Switzerland to continue her studies. Miss Donner-Maundor, of Fcilding, who is at present in this country, has presented a fine specimen of a wasp’s nest which she found in Wales to tho Wanganui Museum, and tho High Commissioner’s Department will send it to Now Zealand on her behalf.

Dr and Mrs Morice, of Greymouth, have just returned to London from a tour on tho Continent.

Mrs Kennedy, Macdonald, who has been spending the past summer in England, leaves by tho Athenio next week on, her return to New Zealand.

Mr Robert McNab, ox-M.P., arrived in London yesterday on a visit to tho Old Country in tho course of which I understand he will continue his researches into tho records of the early history of New Zealand,

She has visited schools in London, Glasgow, Cambridge and Bedford, and intends, before taking ship at Genoa for New Zealand, to eoo something of Continental schools. " i

Miss A. L. Smith, Miss N. J. Black and Mrs M. E. Campion, who arrived in London by tho White Star lino cm June 6th, after being in Bristol and then London, have gone to Belfast for tho winter. •

Mr C. V. Houghton, Auckland manager of 'tho New Zealand Shipping Companv, and M-s Houghton will embark from Plymouth to-morrow (October 2nd) in the s.s. Turakina, after a very enjoyable stay, in England.

Air A 7. M. Hutton, of Christchurch, a eon of tho late Captain Hutton, haa entered business in England as agent for ’Napier motor-cars. -

Mr and Airs James Clogg, of Christchurch, who left New Zealand on Juno 22nd, have done a great deal of interesting travelling since they left the Orontes in April at Naples. Rome, Florence, Atenico, Milan, Lucerne, and Paris were all visited before they .reached tho Old Country on May 15th. Over here they have stayed at Manchester, Yorkshire, Derby, Kendal, tho Lake District, North Wales, the Isle of Man and tho AVostern Islands of Scotland. The date of their return ta New Zealand is not yet determined.

There wore no less than five New Zealanders in the Rosslyn Park Rugby team which last Saturday effected a creditable 16-point draw with Blackheath. They were J. Mehaffy, Alan Adams, D. 6. Macpherson, A. Alacfarlane, and T. Moore. The Antipodean® —all London Hospital men—did all tho scoring for -their side. Adams drew first blood for Rosslyn Park by kicking a penalty goal, converted tries gained by Mcoro and Macpherson, and later scored-himself. Thus of the 1C points scored by Rosslyn Park, Adams was responsible for 10, Macpherson 3, and Moore 3. -

A. O. Palmer, another New Zealander, was on the same day playing for the Harlequins against the Old .Merchant Taylors at Richmond, the game resulting in a victory for the Harlequins by 22 points to 14. Palmer ■scored two tries for his team.

Sir John Knill, London’s Lord Mayor-elect, who was sworn in this week, has been a great traveller, and has visited New Zealand and Australia amongst other countries. Sir John' Knill is the son of a Lord Mayor of London, and ho became a member of the City Corporation in the year of his father’s Mayoralty. Like his father before him, Sir John Knill is a Roman Catholic.
