CANTERBURY DEFEATS OTAGO, PRESS ASSOCIATION. DUNEDIN, November 8. A lawn tennis match Canterbury v. Otago was played here to-day and resulted in a win for the former by ten matches to eight, with one game unfinished. The weather was fine with a strong tricky wind until the last games were in progress, when a heavy shower fell. Some very good play was witnessed, and several of the finishes were very close. Results (names of Canterbury players being given first);— Ladies’ Singles—Miss Goodman lost to Miss Campbell, 3—9; Mrs Ballantyne lost to Miss Marks, 7—B; Mrs Berry beat Miss Hislop, 9—B; Mrs Angus boat Miss Bancbop, 9—G; Mrs Ballantyne injnred an ankle and retired. Ladies’Doubles Miss Goodman and Mrs Berry lost to Misses Campbell and Marks, a—9; Mosdames Ballantyne and Angus beat Misses Hislop and Bauehop, Combined Doubles—Olliver and Miss Goodman lost to White and Miss Campbell, 3—6, 2—6; Goss and Mrs Berry lost to Brown and Miss Marks 3—6 4 6Borrows and Mrs . Angus beat SinclaH and Miss Bauehop, 6—i, 46, 6-2- Kiver and Mrs Ballantyne beat Braithwaite and Miss Hislop, 6—3, 6—2. Mens Doubles Goss and Kiver lost to White and Broum, o-6 3-6; Olliver and Bennington beat Sinclair and Braithwatto, o —6, 6—4, C—2; Borrows and Pcnrso lost to Bundle and Ewen 4—6 .5 — 6. ’ *
