LORD KITCHENER
PROPOSED INVITATION TO NEW ZEALAND. PEESB ASSOCIATION. AUCKLAND. July 14. On Tuesday a deputation of three volunteer officers waited unofficially on the i±ou. George Eowlds, Acting-Minister of Defence, and asked that he use his influence with the Government to invite Lord Kitchener to New Zealand. The deputation received a sympathetic hearing, and it was stated persistently in well-informed circles to-day that an invitation would, be sent to the hero of Khartoum. Mr low ids. when interviewed by a representative of the “Herald" this evening, sa.d that nothing had been decided, but that a communication had been sent to the Hon. James Carroll, ilcuug-Primo Minister, and that Cabinet was now considering the matter.
