AMALGAMATION OF ENGLISH , IRON-WORKERS. By Telegraph—Press Association—Copvrlgit LONDON, July 13. Several Workington (Cumberland) iron companies, and the Cumberland properties belonging to the Cammel Laird Iron Company, have amalgamated, with a capital of £2,000,000. The amalgamated companies employ 7000 men. Sir John S. Randles, M.P., director of the Workington Iron Company, Ltd., and chairman of the Moss Bay Hematite Iron and Steel Company, Ltd., states that foreign competition has necessitated the amalgamation.
