LOST MAN FOUND

HUGH COOKEUJ, ALIVE AND WELL Last night the Wellington police received this telegram from Otaki: “Hugh CookriE found alive and well." Cookrill is the young man who, with a mate, went from Otaki into the gorge on Friday last to muster cattle. Some cattle broke way from the mob, and CcckriU’o companion went _after them, leaving the mob with Oockrill. Cookrill had disappeared from the spot an hour later, and the cattle were dispersed. The police instantly called on settlers to volunteer to search. All the settlers in tho neighbourhood turned out—over one hundred—and, together with Otaki and Levin police, searched np till yesterday. The police message does cot indicate whether Cookrill turned, up at Otaki or whether the search party found him. The party scoured the whole neighbourhood thoroughly, and examined and even dragged some of the creeks, as, believing that the lost man was delicate, they feared he might have been overcome with fatigue or illness.
