OUTBREAK OF FIRE.

OLYMPIA RINK. SERIOUSLY DAMAGED BY FIRE. “Last night—good-bye ■Wellington town —Auld Lang Syne." This was the valedictory notice in Saturday’s papers, closing the Olympia Rink, Ingestre street, for the season. At 4.30 a.m. Sunday the Rink was in flames. The Fire Brigade received tho call to tho scene at 4.47 a.m., the place being then a mass of flames. It covers a fairly wide area of ground, barn-likc, and being an old building, the fire soon got a strong hold. Tho fire, which originated in tho portion of the Rink facing Knigge avenue, was quickly taken in hand by tha brigade, whose efforts saved the front portion, where all the skates were stored. Very little damage was thus done to the contents, owned by the lessee, Mr Frank S. Yates, who allowed his insurance policy on them to lapse about a fortnight ago. When ho left the premises late on Saturday evening everything looked safe. The building, which ia considerably damaged, is the property of Mr T. G. McCarthy, and is insured in the Phoenix Office for .£1250.

On Saturday afternoon, at about halfpast three, the brigade received a call to a fire in a right-of-way off Ingeatre street, at the roar of the premises of J. S. Hunt and Co., furniture makers.
