GREAT FOREST FIRES
IN ONTARIO A TOWN THREATENED WITH DESTRUCTION. IMMENSE AREAS ABLAZE. By Telegraph—Press Association—Copyright (Received September 11, 10.30 p.m.) OTTAWA, September 11. Immense areas of forest country in Western Ontario aro ablaze. The fires aro threatening Fort William, a port on the north-wostont shores of Lake Superior. Fort William, on the CanadianPacific, and X’ort Arthur, Duluth, and AVosteru Railways, lies abouf 175 miles north-east of Duluth, in Minnesota, round which extensive fires have been raging. The population of Fort William is 3000, and the town, , has large grain elevators and timbof-' mills and machine shops.
