Immense areas of forest country in Western Ontario aro ablaze. The fires aro threatening Fort William, a port on the north-wostont shores of Lake Superior. Fort William, on the CanadianPacific, and X’ort Arthur, Duluth, and AVosteru Railways, lies abouf 175 miles north-east of Duluth, in Minnesota, round which extensive fires have been raging. The population of Fort William is 3000, and the town, , has large grain elevators and timbof-' mills and machine shops.
