MEETING OF BOOTMAKERS

BONUS SYSTEM CONDEMNED. PRESS ASSOCIATION. i DUNEDIN, September 10. At a meeting of the local Bootmakers* Union to-night a communication was received from the executive of the Federation urging members not to accept any bonus or work on any piece-work or bonus system unless the system had been approved by the Federation. It was decided to urge the Government to insert a clause in the Arbitration Bill making it illegal for employers to adopt the bonus or premium bonus system. The following motion was also carried “We areof opinion that the time is ripe for the introduction of a log on a weekly wage basis to be fixed for every operation, so as to enable members to compute their earnings.*’
