steamer Ruapehu, which is to sail from Wellington to-morrow for London, will await the arrival of the Rimutaka from Hobart to permit passengers from Hobart to join the Ruapehu. As the Eirautaka is expected to-morrow morning no delay is anticipated. The Arahura, from Greymouth, arrived at Westport at 1 a.m. yesterday and sailed at 8 a.m. for Kelson, Picton and Wellington. The vessel is due here about 9.30 o’clock this evening. The steamer Opawa, of the Kow Zealand Shipping Company’s ileet, which arrived at Port Chalmers on Saturday from Akaroa, will lie up at the Otago port for a tew weeks. Minor rexiairsto be effected to the vessel’s boiler, etc., rendered the visit of the vessel advisable. THE STEPHANOTIS. The cargo steamer Stephanotis, of the Stag line. North Shields, but at present under charter to the American and Australian Mail Line, arrived at Auckland on Friday, from New York, St. Vincent, and Australia. The steamer sailed from New York on April 29th, and called at St. Vincent on May 14th for bunker coal. She left again on the following day for Melbourne and Sydney, arriving at the former port on July 3rd. After discharging cargo at Melbourne the Stephauotis proceeded to Sydney a,nd put out further cargo, leaving for Auckland on the 18th instant. Pine to moderate weather was experienced until June 9th, when the vessel encountered a heavy confused sea, which caused her to roll heavily. Ordinary weather was afterwards met with until coming down the New Zealand coast on Thursday, when terriiic squalls and very heavy rain prevailed. Captain 11. A. Goodridge has with him Mr J. Latest mail advices . received by the Pacea Shipping Company from their engineer, Mr hennc,t, who is supervising tae building of the company’s new steamer Arapawa, state that die new boat will probably be launched next Saturday from the yards of John Fullerton and Co., of Paisley. The Aranawa will then be taken up the'-Clyde to Irvine to have her boiler and machinery fitted. WONGA FELL BEINGS COAL. The Union Company has been advised that the steamer Wonga Fell, 38C8 tons. Captain Donaldson, sailed from Newcastle at 7 a.m. on Sunday last for Wellington, via Lyttelton. The vessel, which is bringing coal for both ports, is owned by W. S. Fell and Co., Ltd., Sydney, She was built in 19(11 by Sir J. Laing and Son, Ltd.. Sunderland. RUNNERS PAID OFF. Three members of the crew of the dismasted scow Whangaroa were "mijher.s' M —men who had signed on for tiv run from Wanganui to Sydney, at <£(> for the trip. As the Whangaroa did not complete her trip but was towed into 'Wellington, the “runners” had not been able to earn their J 56 according to the terms of the ship's articles. The owners, however, decided to pay the men off, and each of the three accepted .£5 12s 3d for the 49 days they had been on the vessel. The trip had been an unprofitable one to the runners, but. it would not have oaid them, to stand by the vessel till she were refitted and had sailed to Sydney. THE TASMAN SOLD. The Anchor Company, of Nelson, hap sold the twin screw passenger and cargo steamer Tasman to the Northern Steamship Company, of Auckland. Delivery of the vessel is to be given on the loth of next month. The Tasman is a regular trader between Wellington, Nelson and Motueka. Although' built in 1993. the vessel has onlv been owned by the Anchor-Company during the past eighteen months. The Tasman ,was built by Mr R. Logan, senr.. of Auckland, for the late Mr J. C. Burford, of Nelson. The vessel is of 179 tons gross and 87 net tonnage. Her principal dimensions are—Length 102 ft. beam 21ft, death 7ft. She .was engined by Fraser and Sons, of Auckland.
