ANNUAL MEETING. The fifth annual mooting tf fbo Wellington Boxing Association was held last night, Mr R. W. McVilly, chairman, presiding. There was a laige attendance The chairman, in moving *,l-o adoplion of the report and balance shoot, said the year's operations had been exceedingly satisfactory and tho attendance of the public at the association's functions was a pointer as to the interest people took in tlie sport when properly controlled. During last session legislation had been provided by amondmeut of the Police Offences Act giving the New Zealand Council superior control of boxing, and this control delegated to had had a useful effect in making the spcrt clean and popular. Mr Platts, in speaking to the motion, mentioned in connection with the proposed Pastime Club mentioned in the report that it would probably cost the association £SOO a year for the first year and most likely a. similar or larger Etvm in succeeding years to inaugurate and run such a club. He suggested an entirely separate olub with a capable instructor, .the club and instructor to be subject to' the jurisdiction of the association. It was pointed out that the public did not attend amateur contests in large numbers—it was professional contests that drew tho crowd. Tho chairman eaid f.w the last two years the association had been endeavouring to establish a Pastime. Club, Tjut the bar up to the present had been the Kck of suitable premises and the expense entailed.

It was resolved that rule 3 bo anieuled so as to provide that the officers shall include cue honorary solicitor and three honorary medical cxamin-

Ifc was resolved that rule 4 should stipulate that besides fifty active members the association should include twenty-five honorary members and an unlimited number of honorary life members.
