FIRES
OUTBREAK IN A NEWSPAPER OFFICE. PRESS ASSOCIATION, AUCKLAND, April 13. A fire at the "Star" Office early on Sunday morning originated in the stereoroom. The Fir© Brigade so promptly attacked the flames that they were confined to on© floor at the back of the premises. The damage is estimated at between =£soo and =£looo. It is covered by insurances. The staff worked energetically to get the plant in working order, and - repairs were effected sufficiently to enable work to be resumed as usual to-day. When the Fire Brigade was proceed-, ing to the fire, a hose-reel with two men capsized when turning the corner of Fort street. The men received injuries which are not serious.
