At the Southland Racing Club's meeting on Wednesday and Thursday last. Zero, by Finland—Circlet, by Medallion —lris, won three races. Billingsgate (Bill of Portland—Fishwife), full brother to Finland, died recently Km Mr J. Turnbull's station in Queensland. Office Girl (The Officer—Tom Boy), by Sou'wester—Romp) won the principal ©vent each day. Tomboy is a half-sister to Norton, Camomile, and Pills. Tomboy .vmears in the Stud Book “Annie Laurie.” Homeward (SeawardFlirt) won the Steeplechase each day. Another double winner was Cuiroeettia (Cuirassow—Ponisettin). Rock Ferry, on© of the Hon. D, Ormond's team for the C.J.C. meeting, is a two-year-old brown colt by Birkenhead—Eon, a full brother to Eo (sent to Australia) and Eona. The ex-Hawera trained hack, Billow, has changed ownership, and is now a member of R. Johnston's Wanganui stable.

At a meeting of the Dunedin Jockey Club committee the secretary of the Waikaka Hack Racing Club wrote stating that J. A. Forbes had been fined Ml for striking the handicapper at their meeting on March 18th. and that the fine was still unpaid.—lt was resolved to write to the club asking if there was any special reason why so small a penalty was inflicted; if not, the Dunedin. Jockey Club would considerably increase tho penalty.

ELLERSLIE TRACKS. TBESS ASSOCIATION. AUCKLAND, April 13. With the exception of a mile on the sand run by 'Veronica in Imin 49sec, there was no work of importance at Ellerslio this morning. King Billy, Aborigine, Arc Light, Paritutu, Waihuka, Cliarteu.se, Finery. North Head, Diamond Star. Woodley, Teraliai, Marangi, Stylish, Kirsty. Mahuta and Moeraki have arrived, and were on the track this morning, but were restricted to the lightest exercise. TRAINING AT RICCARTON. CHRISTCHURCH, April 13. A mild morning saw the trainers out at Riccarton at daybreak, but it being an off day proceedings were uninteresting. S. Waddell gave his team, including Zimmerman, Kairoma, Martyrium, North Pole, and Rock Ferry, half to steady pacing on the tan. They are all looking well, especially Zimmerman, who went very freely. Boniform, who arrived from the south on Saturday, did steady pacing. Ho is looking in fine fettle. The champion filly Fleetfoot has developed .ameness, which may prevent her fulfilling her engagements at the meeting, THOROUGHBRED HORSE SALE. There was a large attendance at the f horoughbred horse sale at Abraham and Williams* yards, Palmerston North, on Saturday. The entries comprised some roung horses horses from Hawke's Bay, which had not been in long, and looked on the rough side, and a number of
