BROOKLYN AFFAIRS
ELECTORS’ ASSOCIATION FORMED.
About forty ratepayers of Brooldyn attended tho meeting convened last night in tho State School. Tho chair was occupied by Air James Barr. Tho chairman, in moving that a Brooklyn Ratepayers’ Association be 'formed, touched on several matters of importance to tho district. There was a great deal of sickness in Brooklyn, caused by tho lack of a proper drainage scheme. It was high time something was dono in this matter. He understood it was tho intention of the City Council to proceed at onco with tbo drainage of Roseneath, but Brooklyn had every right to bo considered at least as soon as Rosoneath. Another matter ivas tho lack of representation of tho district on the Council.
Hr J. Hopkirk moved as an amendment tJiat tho association bo called tho “Brooklyn Municipal Electors’ Association,” and this title was unanimously adopted. Officers of tho Association were elected as follows:—President, Hon W. W. McCardie, M.L.C.; vice-pro’-sidont, Mr G, Frost; secretary, Mr It. C. O’Connor; treasurer, Mr J. W. Hopkirk; committee, Messrs Barr Thow, Gollert, Barras, J. O. Brown. ' Tho committe was instructed to draw up and circulate a petition to tho City Council, drawing attention to the state of the drainage in the district.
The annual membership suhscrip tion was fixed at 2s 6d.
